What to Bring to Your First Estate Planning Meeting
Don’t worry — you don’t need to have everything ready. But here’s a simple checklist to help you feel prepared:
Personal Information
- Names and birthdates of children or other dependents
- Contact info for people you trust (potential guardians, executors, etc.)
Financial Snapshot
- List of major assets (home, bank accounts, investments, business interests)
- List of debts (mortgages, loans, credit cards)
Documents (if available)
- Existing will, trust, or power of attorney
- Deeds, titles, or recent financial statements
- Prenuptial or divorce agreements (if relevant)
Decisions to Think About
- Who should care for your children (if under 18)?
- Who do you trust to manage your finances or make healthcare choices?
- Any special gifts or charitable wishes?
- Any family dynamics we should be aware of?
Not sure on some of these? That’s totally okay. We’ll walk through it together.
